12 Budget-friendly Spring Decor Ideas

I’ve rounded up 12 SUPER simple, budget-friendly spring decor ideas!

Hello, friends!

I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but here in Minnesota, it’s been pretty darn nasty.

We’ve had a mix of rain, sleet, and snow for the last couple of days, and the cold temperatures have returned again.

Not exactly spring-inspiring weather. I suppose that’s why I’ve been procrastinating when it comes to decorating for spring.

But this past weekend I decided it was time to find some inspiration, so I started digging through some boxes in the basement.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that it doesn’t take a lot of money to decorate your home from season to season.

Often times you can shop your home and use items you already have. Or, if you’re like me you supplement a few new items with those you make yourself.

For those who are still struggling to get on the spring bandwagon.  Today I’m going to share 10 SUPER simple, budget-friendly ways to get started!

 FOR YOUR FRONT DOOR!

Adding a pretty wreath on our front door is always the first thing I do when the seasons change. Every year I like to do something new and unique but that can get spendy unless I come up with creative ideas to save some money and time. Here are three of my favorite.

1. shop your craft supplies

This Simple Spring wreath was made entirely from recycled items I had in my craft stash. So it cost me $0 and took just a few minutes to put together. But the impact it had on our front door was OUTSTANDING.

Here are a few more items you can re-use:

  • Ribbon
  • Burlap
  • Mesh
  • Raffia
  • Greenery
  • Grapevine wreath form
  • Metal wreath forms

2. Mix and match nicer florals with dollar tree stems

Good quality-realistic faux flowers aren’t cheap. To create a full and luscious wreath for not a lot of $ add a few nicer stems and fill in with Dollar tree florals!

3. shop your home

Instead of creating a traditional wreath make something ‘unexpected’ like a straw hat and scarf!

You need go no further than your own home to find items you can use!

MORE UNEXPECTED IDEAS:

  • Rubber boots
  • Garden hose or tools
  • Watering can
  • Picture Frames

SETTING AN INEXPENSIVE AND PRETTY SPRING TABLESCAPE

4. fresh flowers and seasonal fruit and vegetables make beautiful & budget-friendly centerpieces

Whether they are from your garden or the grocery store, fresh flowers, fruit, and vegetables are the perfect addition to any tablescape.

Seasonal Flowers:

  • Tulips
  • Daffodils
  • Forget-me-not
  • Crocus
  • Pansies

Seasonal Fruits & Veggies:

  • Lemons/Limes
  • Carrots
  • Radishes
  • Artichokes
  • Purple Cabbage
5. DIY your table setting pieces

Changing out napkins and place settings every season can be a BIG investment. But who wants to use the same ole’ same ole’ every year? Not me. So instead, how about supplementing some new pieces with some handmade items? You don’t have to be a seamstress to create simple no-sew napkins using scrap fabric. And forget those high-priced woven plate chargers. Make your own using bulk rope from the hardware store!

Other DIYs projects for Tablescapes

  • Centerpieces
  • Table runners
  • Tablecloth
  • Place cards
  • Napkin rings
6. incorporate budget-friendly pieces into your tablescape

Buying a full set of pretty spring dishes and glassware new can be pricey. Instead, check out thrift stores and yard sales for used items. Or do like I did with last year’s simple spring table and switch up some of the glassware and dishes with melamine items meant for outdoor dining.

ADD POPS OF SPRING COLOR TO EVERY SPACE

7. Pot of green

There might be a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. But a pot of green is priceless when it comes to adding spring colors to your home.

I brought this fern inside the previous summer and re-potted it in a pretty blue colander that I already had for a touch of spring in the dining room. IE: $0 cost!

Other ‘green’ ideas:

  • herbs like basil, rosemary, and mint
  • Ivy
  • succulents
8. fake it with faux

Don’t have a green thumb? No worries. Substitute with faux greens. This faux succulent rock garden brought hours of spring enjoyment and cost under $10!

9. bring out the eggs

Decorating for Easter is always a fun part of spring. But you don’t have to wait until then to put out those bright and colorful eggs. Real eggs are always a cheaper solution but you can buy faux eggs and use them over and over again, depending upon what decorating option you use. You can create these modern-looking eggs using gift bags and mod podge for under $5!

Ideas for decorating eggs:

  • Decoupage
  • Paint
  • Dying
  • Stencils

DECORATE WITH DESSERT

10. pretty pastel bars

These no-bake butterscotch bars are SUPER quick and easy and require only a handful of ingredients. Add a touch of spring by switching out the regular marshmallows for these pretty pastel ones!

11. add some sunshine

Nothing says spring more to me than lemons! And this time of year they are aplenty! These mini lemon loaves will add a bit of sunshine to even the cloudiest of days and you’re the whole house will smell like spring! P.S. The recipe makes THREE loaves so share a bit of sunshine with someone else!

12. a burst of blueberry

What could be better than a glazed donut? How about baked blueberry donuts with lemon glaze? Blueberries can be spendy this time of year, but that’s okay because frozen will do just fine.

Serve these yummies on a pretty tiered tray for your next spring tea party and you’re friends and family will swoon!

Bonus Ideas for Spring Decorating on a Budget:

  • Decorate for you and yours. Some folks like a lot of bright colors. Others enjoy more neutral tones. Whatever it is you LOVE about spring fill your home with it and forget what those glossy magazines say is “IN”.
  • If you haven’t already, make this the year you get your spring decor organized. Keeping a list of all the items you have and storing them in labeled boxes will save you tons of time AND money for years to come!
  • Get the littles involved! Make spring decorating a family event. Whether it’s placing a wreath on your front door, baking a sweet treat, or doing a spring craft, do it together and make some wonderful spring memories!
