DIY Floral Valentine’s Day Wreath!
Hello, Friends!
Can I share a secret?
Okay good.
So…originally my plan was NOT to make anything this year for Valentine’s Day.
I know. I know.
I’m a blogger so I’m supposed to make something for every holiday right?
Right.
But I wasn’t going to.
Truth be told, up until two years ago, I’d never really even decorated for Valentine’s Day.
That year I made not one but THREE wreaths, and last year I made two sweet wall decor pieces, so it wasn’t like I didn’t have anything to decorate with.
And since we are in a rental, I really didn’t want any more ‘stuff’ if you know what I mean.
So there it is.
I was seriously going to try and sneak through Valentine’s day with nary anything heart-shaped.
Except, of course, maybe a sweet treat or two.
But then Michael and I went shopping last weekend.
I was just on the lookout for a few items to help me give our bedroom a refresh. And that’s when I saw it.
The Valentine’s Day section.
Two full aisles filled with candy and cards and all things heart-shaped.
It was difficult to by-pass those yummy boxes of chocolate and heart-shaped goodies, but I did it. Because I had a mission.
Things for our bedroom.
Bedroom…
Squirrel…
Okay, not a squirrel.
Just pretty pink frilly-girlie girl things…
My heart swooned, and for just one tiny moment, my fingers reached out to grab the most beautiful, most romantic, most…AMAZING heart-shaped floral wreath.
Then I quickly snatched them back! I had to get ahold of myself!
NO wreaths- No frilly pink things-NO VALENTINE’S DAY ANYTHING!
Albeit, with a forlorn heart, I slowly walked away from the Valentine’s Day section and promised myself a special treat for being so strong.
I have to say, I was pretty proud of myself as I headed out of the store with not one Valentine’s item in my shopping bags.
Not even supplies to MAKE one of those beautiful romantic and oh so AMAZING heart-shaped wreaths.
That’s because I drove across town to the Dollar Tree and picked everything I needed up there!
So I don’t have any willpower when it comes to pretty pink girly-girl things.
I can’t help it.
They just make me smile.
And so does making a wreath that I can take apart and use again!
This is why I decided to make my pretty pink…girly-girl, floral wreath using two separate wreath forms.

how to make a heart-shaped floral wreath
You’ll need the round wire wreath form and the white florals for this step!
- Begin by plucking the flowers off of the stems. Then lay them out on the wire wreath form to see exactly how many you will need. NOTE: You just need to cover the outer ring.
- Once you have all the flowers laid out you can begin to glue them down onto the outer ring.
TIP: Make sure you cover the surface you’re working on as it can get a bit messy!
- Center the wooden plaque on top of the wire wreath.
- Attach the plaque to the round wreath form by connecting the jute hanger to the wreath form using a white pipe cleaner.
- Often times when you place flowers on a heart form you can lose the definition of the shape. So to avoid that I outlined the V part of the wreath by gluing down three mini roses (pink) along with the greenery that came they came with. This step is totally optional, but I LOVE how it defined the heart AND added such a sweet touch!
- Pluck the pink flowers off the stems.
- Place them around the outside edge of the heart shape.
- Glue the pink flowers down in place
Now here’s where you might ask…aren’t you going to fill the rest of the wood plaque in?
NOPE!
Of course, that had been my plan. But when I stepped back to eyeball my progress my heart swooned!
That little heart-shaped piece of wood in the center was just too darn perfect.
It added a bit of natural warmth and texture. And I immediately fell in love.
But friends, you can TOTALLY fill in the plaque with as many flowers as you want if that is what your heart desires!
My heart desired something pretty pink, frilly, and oh so girly-girl. With a wee bit of natural wood.
And that’s exactly what I got.
The best part is…it only cost $7 to make!
That’s $25 cheaper than the wreath I saw in the store.
Even better? I can take the wreath apart and re-use both pieces if I want.
After all, spring will be here soon enough. And I’m going to need another wreath, right?
I hope today’s post inspires you to create your own sweet heart-shaped floral wreath!
P.S. This DIY Floral Heart-shaped wreath would make a LOVELY Valentine’s Day gift too!
P.P.S. I’m going to hang mine in our bedroom when I’m done with the refresh!

So cute!! I saw this on Pinterest and had to come over and see how you did this. I love that you can use both wreaths again.
Christine, you did a beautiful job on your Valentine wreath. It is so romantic 🙂 I would love it if you added this post to my Friday With Friends link party!
Thanks,
Rachelle
Thank you so much, Katie! I’m looking forward to re-purposing both of them!
Thank you so much, Rachelle! I appreciate the invite!
I was thinking about how proud I was that you didn’t buy anything for Valentine’s Day. Then I scrolled down and say that you went to Dollar Tree and I couldn’t help but laugh and think to myself, “Oh course she did!” And then I was even more proud! HAHA! This wreath is gorgeous! It looks like you spend so much money on it! I love how it looks like a round wreath on the outside and then a heart in the center. And I love that you left the wood exposed. Beautiful! Pinned!!
Lol, Michelle! You totally made my day! If only we could hang out together. What fun we would have! I’m so glad you liked the wreath. I still haven’t hung it up in our bedroom because at the moment it looks like a tornado went through it. But hopefully, it will be up before Valentine’s Day! Thank you so much for sharing the post! Hugs!
This is so pretty. Love the color combination.
Thank you so much, Cindy!
This is so creative, Christine! I love it. I swear I don’t know how you find all these materials at the dollar store then turn them around and make a vintage masterpiece but that’s just part of your genius and I’m thankful you always share. It’s really beautiful! Great job as always, CoCo
Aw, Thank you, sweet friend! That means the world to me!
