Shoe Racks Aren’t Just For Shoes Anymore!

Hello, friends!

One of the things I was SUPER excited about when we moved into our rental house last year, was the fact that it has a pantry.

It’s nothing fancy, and definitely not as big as my dream pantry. But it’s WAY more than what we had at our old house, so I’ll take it!

In fact, I loved it SO much, that I packed it full of stuff and it ended up looking like a complete HOT MESS!

It was so bad that I finally decided during Christmas break SOMETHING had to change! I’ll be sharing more details on how I got this entire space organized next week.

But today, I’m going to be sharing a SUPER fun and easy hack that I used for additional storage!

It all started with an inexpensive shoe rack!

And just so you know. This storage hack has absolutely NOTHING to do with shoes!

Yes, just like the title of this post says. Shoe racks aren’t just for shoes anymore.

At least they aren’t in our house.

Nope, I’m actually going to use this shoe rack in our small pantry.

Before I show what I did do with the shoe rack. Let me just start by saying this project was SUPER simple! It was so easy that I almost didn’t do a post on it, but then I thought why not? I mean who wouldn’t love finding an easy AND inexpensive way to get organized?

assembling the shoe rack:

Putting the shoe rack together couldn’t have been more simple. It came with all the materials you need and no tools are required. You simply attach the two sides together with the steel rods and add the remaining rods for additional sturdiness.

Once I had the shoe rack together, I couldn’t believe how strong and sturdy it was! I mean seriously! The entire rack cost under $10 and took less than 10 minutes to put together!

So can you guess what I did with this inexpensive shoe rack yet?

TA-DA! That’s right, my friends! I turned that nifty little shoe rack into additional storage for my pantry! Now I have all my paper products, Plastic Wrap, foil, Kleenex, freezer bags, garbage bags, and SOOO much more in one organized, easy to reach space!

This shoe rack was the perfect size to hold all of these items, and the perfect height to tuck under the shelves in my pantry. (I’ll share more on that next week).

But I’m not done yet. I LOVED the idea of using this rack for storing pantry items SO much, that I ordered a couple more!

Because there is SO much more I can store on these shoe racks. Like sodas, juice, sparkling water, wine…

And this shoe rack is even sturdy enough to hold heavier items like laundry detergent. You could also keep soaps, floor cleaner, hand wipes, and all your cleaning supplies on one too!

Here are a few more options:

  • Dog food & Supplies
  • Additional canned goods
  • Napkins, paper plates, plasticware
  • Spices
  • Kitchen linens
  • Additional pots, pans, & baking supplies

The options for using these shoe racks are endless.

But unfortunately, I’m running out of room in my pantry, LOL!

I hope today’s post has inspired you to think outside the box when it comes to organizing.

So tell me…what would you store on the shoe rack?
