Summer is definitely in full swing, here in our neck of the woods! Temperatures reached the upper 90’s this past weekend, with heat indexes of over 100 degrees!
Add high humidity to those scorching temperatures, and it was down right unbearable to be outdoors for long!
But it’s day’s like this past weekend when my garden’s need that ‘extra’ bit of love, so I grabbed my hose, (and camera) early Saturday morning, and took a stroll to the back yard.
The first thing I spotted were my Daylilies, which were just starting to bloom.
I couldn’t help but smile seeing those delicate yellow flowers.
But I have to admit-the fuchsia lilies that I planted a couple of years ago, are definitely my favorite! They are absolutely STUNNING up close, and didn’t seem to be bothered by the heatwave at all.
Speaking of Fuschia-(the flower not the color this time)…..
As I strolled past the back deck, I was thrilled to see that this one is FINALLY enjoying her new location. I’ll be honest, I’ve never had much luck with this finicky flower. In previous years I’ve tried everything to keep one alive through out the summer, but to no avail. Hopefully, (cross your fingers), this year I just might!!
As I made my way to the junk garden, I caught sight of my raspberry bush. I planted it last fall, and wasn’t even expecting any fruit this summer. Albeit small (teeny weeny)-these ripe berries made a tasty treat on my Cheerio’s that morning!
Have I told you how much I LOVE lavender? Last year I was blessed to have a ‘bumper’ crop,and it looks like I will again this year!
These lovelies smelled so DIVINE-and you can bet I grabbed a handful (or two) to bring inside and enjoy!
I’ll be sharing more of my gardens and herbs soon-but since I spent most of my time indoors this weekend-I have a few ‘other’ projects I can’t wait to show you later in the week!

Lovely – so pretty and I to love lavender. Finally planted some this year – yeah! I love that you put your Fuchsia in a container that wasn’t hanging. Enjoyed your tour and it’s hot here too, been spending my late mornings and afternoons indoors.
Thank you, Carole! This is the first time I put a fuchsia in a pot-versus a hanging basket-and for someone reason it seems to like it better! Go figure?? You are definitely going to enjoy your lavender!! I brought a whole bunch in and placed them in milk vases. I love how they fill our home with the smell of summer! Happy gardening-and try and stay cool!!!
This was such a lovely tour, CD. Your daylilies are definitely stunning and that lavender…insert green eyes here. It’s gorgeous! I have a couple of smallish plants that I started from seed last year after more than a few unsuccessful attempts. I so look forward to their blooms. They already smell amazing though when I touch the plants, and for that I’m grateful. Thanks for sharing your lovely tour.
Thank you so much, Karen!!!! I planted my the lavender a couple of years ago, and I’ll be honest-I really didn’t think it would amount to much. But these past two years it has literally EXPLODED! I picked a bunch this weekend and you’re right-the smell is amazing when you touch the plants-but after placing them in milk vases-that sweet smell lingers throughout our entire home! Good luck with your new plants! I’m in awe that you grew them from seedlings!!!

Thank you so much, Jemma! I truly am blessed to have a bumper crop of lavender this year! I’ll have just enough to dry, so I can enjoy their amazing fragrance all winter long!!
