Friday’s Fabulous Finds!

Hello, sweet friends!

Before we get to this week’s fabulous find let me start with some EXCITING news!

So last weekend Michael and I were FINALLY able to see the inside of our new house!

We certainly could have seen it sooner, but the contractors have been so busy trying to get it ready for the first of the month that we didn’t want to get in their way.

Last Sunday they took a day off so we headed on over to check it out. OMG, my friends! Since this is a rental, I obviously didn’t have any part in the initial design, but I must say, they came pretty darn close to what I would have done.

The house is very much the Modern Farmhouse/Scandanavian style that is my heart, and I cannot wait to get in there and fill up each room! I’ll be sharing it all right here once the contractors have cleared out!

Now onto this week’s finds!

BABY BLESSINGS

My grand-niece will be baptized this weekend.  Since she’s such a blessing to her parents and all of us, I thought this book of bible blessings would be perfect!

why I love it

I’m a firm believer that we need to start teaching our littles about the word of God as early as possible. I’m an avid reader of the scripture so I began looking for something that my grand niece could enjoy even though she’s only 9 months. This book came with plenty of good reviews, but I wanted to see it for myself, so I went to our local Hallmark store and flipped through the pages. I was happy to see each page was filled with short verses and then a brief explanation to help the littles understand their meaning.

cost

Hallmark stores can be a bit pricey so I was shocked when I flipped the book of blessings over and saw the price tag was only $12.99!! Bonus? They also had TONS of other items that were perfect for baptism, confirmation, christening, and more. All reasonably priced I might add!

RUGS THAT RULE

SOURCE: WAYFAIR

Ever since I visited the new house I’ve been making a list of all the things we’ll need since we sold much of our stuff before selling our old house. Since much of the flooring will be hardwood area rugs will be at the top of the list.  So I went on the search for some the other night. This one caught my eye almost immediately!

why I love it

First and foremost-the color. If you’ve been following along for a bit you’ll know I am totally enamored with the dark blues right now. But the pattern on this lovely also drew me in. I know it might seem a bit ‘busy’ to some, but I actually don’t mind that. And I’m counting on it being more subtle in real life as it will be on a bigger surface.

cost

I usually buy all my rugs at Rugs.com (SO budget-friendly), but unfortunately, they didn’t have anything even remotely close to this rug. I wasn’t able to find it anywhere else, so Wayfair it is. I’m going to order the 8×10 @ $165(actually a deal) and if I love it, the rug will go in my home office. Since it’s small I think that size should fit perfectly.

SHOWER POWER

Need a new shower head but don’t know what to get? This one comes HIGHLY recommended! Not only does my favorite lady Martha Stewart recommend it, but this so-called “WIZARD” showerhead also has over 19,000+ reviews and a 4.5-star rating!

SUPER SOURDOUGH

I know I’m WAY behind on the sourdough craze but I recently read an article the other day that said if you’re going to eat bread make it sourdough because it does have health benefits. I’ve been looking around for some recipes to try and came across this one.

why I love it

As I mentioned, I’ve never made sourdough bread before so I’ve got a LOT to learn. Laura’s recipe not only is detailed and thorough, but she also offers TONS of resources on sourdough, as well as a video!

cost

I’m sure I’m not the only one who is shocked at the total when checking out at the grocery store. EVERYTHING is going up, but especially items like bread, cereal, and dairy. That’s why I decided it’s time to start baking bread again because the average cost to make it is MUCH lower! For sourdough, you will need just a few ingredients to make your starter. And then just a few more to make the bread. The total cost will be under $3 and it will be so much healthier and taste SO much better than store-bought!

HEALTHY HABITS

Speaking of healthy. A little over a year ago, I decided to make a DRASTIC change in my hygiene routine and switch from the deodorant I’d been using for years,  to a new one!

why I love this brand

When I made the decision to change deodorant’s I wanted one that would not only be Paraben-free( you can read this article for more on parabens) but also Aluminum-free. This brand touched all the ‘free’ bases and the best part? It smells AMAZING! The deodorant comes in several scents but my favorite is Rosemary and Lavender. And if you’re worried if it holds up like your favorite deodorant, don’t worry. IT DOES! Trust this perimenopause gal who has hot flashes on a daily sometimes hourly basis! LOL!

cost

Most Aluminum-free deodorants are a bit pricey. The average cost of a popular brand Schmidt’s is about $8!! Arm and Hammer is just under $3 here.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I’m TOTALLY 100% OBSESSED with Marvel movies so when I found out Netflix had a Marvel series I did a happy dance! If you love all things Marvel’s you need to check out Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D! It’s 7 seasons long and I’m halfway through season 2! You can also stream it on ABC here.

DINING DILEMMA

We need a new dining room table and I’m struggling to find ANYTHING I love. This one did catch my eye, but the 60′ one is out of stock! This one goes WAY out of my comfort zone but there is something about it that I really like. Michael on the other hand isn’t feeling it.

  1. So many blessings here!! Congratulations on your new home! I know you’re so excited to move in. And congratulations to your grand-niece, too. How wonderful! And what a sweet book!

I know what you mean about the dining room table. We found one on an auction site but we’ll need to redo it. Right now we’re using an old table the owners left in the basement! 😂 It’s so hard finding one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! The one you shared is really pretty. I want a table with a bench along one side. I just love those!

Have fun shopping for home stuff! That’s always the best part!

  2. Thank you so much, Michelle! Yes! I am SO excited to get moved into our new home. Cannot wait! The baptism for our sweet grand niece was AMAZING! I’ll be sharing a tidbit on that next week! The book was a hit! I seriously cannot find a dining room table I LOVE and yes costs an arm and leg! UGH! So I think I’m going to check out our Restore It and see if I can find one we can ‘pretty up’! I’m TOTALLY with you on the bench! I think that looks so homey! Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend!

  3. So excited to see more of your new home Christine and all the plans you have for it. The baby baptism book would make such a great gift and I definitely need to try that deodorant! It’s really hard to find a good one that’s also clean. Thanks for the heads up! Hope your week has been a fun one, CoCo

  4. I can’t wait to share the new house with you as well, CoCo! Move-in day is coming! That baptism book was a big hit with our sweet Ivy Jean, and yes, definitely try that deodorant! It smells so fresh and clean AND it works!!!
