Easy Halloween Treat Bags+ Free Printables!

Create SUPER easy & FUN Halloween Treat bags with these tips and free printables!

Hello, friends!

I’ve never really done much for Halloween in the past. Besides, carve a few pumpkins and hand out a few treats to the kids in our neighborhood. But the past few years the number of kids in our old neighborhood was getting smaller and smaller and Halloween just didn’t seem fun anymore.

Of course, this year we are in a WHOLE new neighborhood, and from what I hear the kids are plenty! So…I decided that maybe I would change things up this year and not only decorate our front porch a bit (I’ll share more on that in another post), but I also thought I would put more effort into how and what I do for handing out those treats!

To start I wanted to make up some fun treat bags for the kids.

Originally, I had planned on having my grandson help with the bags this past weekend, but the weather was so amazing, we ended up spending the day outside.

But I just know he’ll approve of what I came up with!

First, let’s talk about these fun and SUPER adorable labels I made! (Original size fits on an 8.5″x 11″ printing paper.)

There is a wee bit of a story behind these sweet pastel labels. You see, they weren’t supposed to BE pastel. Nope. Initially, I created them all with the traditional Halloween colors like orange and black, and deep purple. But then I went to print them out and POOF! The colors magically changed into pink, black, and blue!

Okay, so it didn’t magically happen. I had some issues with a brand new printer cartridge. But… and here’s the funny part. I actually LOVED these colors so much that I made a pastel version too!

Of course, I also have the traditional version that you can print off too! (You can grab the links for both sets at the end of the post!)

Note: Each label is 2.5″ round.

I used these printables as labels for my treat bags, but you could also do tags and tie them onto your treat bags.

what you’ll need to make the treat bags

how to create treat bags
  • Print off the free printable labels (See below for the links)

TIP: I printed my labels on sticky paper but you could totally print them on cardstock or even regular printing paper and use double-sided tape to stick them on the bags!

  • using scissors carefully cut out the labels
  • Fill your bags with candy

TIP: I know homemade goodies are frowned on for trick or treaters. But I’m definitely going to fill up a few ‘special’ treat bags for the littles in my family. The options are endless but a few ideas would be caramel corn, cookies, and a new recipe I’ll be sharing soon for Monster Trail Mix!

  • fold the top half of the bag over and create two holes at the top using a  hole punch.

  • cut your ribbon

TIP: After a few test runs a 10″ piece of ribbon seemed to work best.

  • take one end of the ribbon and push it through one of the holes. Then take the other end and push it through the other.
  • tuck the end pieces under the folded top and either tie them to hold in place or tape them using double-sided tape.
  • fold the top part of the bag over and seal with one of the printable labels/tags

And VIOLA!

SUPER cute, easy &  inexpensive (well except for the candy) Halloween treats bags!

And as EXTRA bonus I’m also sharing this ‘spooky’ (not so much) “PLEASE TAKE ONE” printable just in case your community is requesting ‘help yourself’ treating like ours is this year.

I simply attached the printable to a chalkboard I picked up at the Dollar Tree with some double-sided tape. You could also put this in a fun Halloween-themed frame too!

  1. Christine, these are so stinking cute! I can’t get over how easy they are either. I know you’re going to be the hit of the neighborhood this year. I love the bags, I love the ribbons, I love the sticker – I just love it all! Super creative – I’m pinning right now. Hugs, CoCo

  2. Aw, thank you so much, CoCo! They are SUPER easy, and that was the whole idea since initially, it was a project I wanted to do with my grandson. In the end their kid-approved so, that’s all that matters! Thank you so much for sharing!
