Cranberry-Cream Cheese & Bacon Puffs

Light and airy puffs filled with a creamy filling of tart cranberries, green onion, fresh rosemary & Bacon.

Hello, friends!

Entertaining this holiday is going to be a bit different, like so many things this year. But whether it’s a small gathering or just your immediate family, if you’re like me, one thing is for sure!

You’re going to need a few quick and easy ‘go-to’ snack and appetizer recipes!

Am I right?

Well, look no further because today I’m going to share my recipe for these scrumptious Cranberry-Cream Cheese & Bacon Puffs, along with a few more recipes that will have you covered throughout the holiday season!

And don’t worry about special (and high-priced) ingredients or hours in the kitchen. You won’t find either here!

I’m talking quick and easy, and all of these app and snack recipes require ingredients I just know you have in your pantry or refrigerator!

So let’s get started!

how to make cranberry-cream cheese & bacon puffs

The first thing we need to do is assemble the ingredients for our puffs!

  • water
  • butter
  • flour
  • eggs
  • Place butter and water in a medium saucepan
  • Bring to a boil
  • Slowly whisk in flour
  • Cook for 1 minute
Pretty easy so far, right?

Once you get to this stage you are going to want your batter to rest for just a few minutes. While it does you can get your eggs ready. TIP: I use my food processor for this next step but you could certainly whisk the eggs in one at a time.

  • Place the dough in a food processor
  • Add eggs one at time-pulsing until just combined
  • When the last egg is added pulse until the batter is smooth.

That’s it! Can you believe how easy is it to make these puffs?

Now it’s all about the baking! At times I’ve wanted the puffs a bit bigger so I’ve used a 1/4 cup but for these little appetizers, I’m going to use a 2 Tablespoon.  I just scoop up the batter with the Tablespoon and push it off onto a parchment-lined baking sheet with a teaspoon. TIP: To keep parchment paper in place I spray a bit of non-stick spray down on my baking sheet first.

As you can see, once in the oven these yummy little bites ‘PUFF’ up, hence their name!

While they cool, I start to gather my ingredients to make that scrumptiously creamy sweet, and savory filling!

  • cream cheese
  • mayo
  • fresh rosemary
  • dried cranberries ( I make my own)
  • bacon
  • green onion
  • garlic powder
  • honey

See what I mean about simple ingredients? Nothing fancy here.

I like the no-mess way of cooking my bacon up, so while it’s baking in the oven, it’s time to start putting together that filling! First, I whisk together the cream cheese (room temperature) and mayo until it’s smooth. Then I add in the cranberries, honey, green onion, garlic powder, and chopped rosemary.

Then it’s all about the bacon! I chop that up into tiny bits and throw it in the mix! (see what I did there 🙂

To fill the puffs, I simply take a sharp knife and cut the puff in half. Then I place about a Tablespoon of the filling inside and place the top back on!

Friends, I have to tell you. These Cranberry-Cream Cheese Bacon Puffs are OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious!

Every bite provides a new and tasty flavor. There’s the tartness of the cranberry, the smokiness of the bacon, the bite of the green onion, and the sweetness of the honey. Oh, and let’s not forget the freshness of that rosemary! YUMMY!

can I make these puffs in advance?

YES! Absolutely! The puffs themselves can be made ahead of time and stored in your refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble. You could also freeze them.

These puffs are perfect for serving during the holidays. Not only do they have the traditional colors of Christmas (red and green) but this recipe makes 15 puffs so you’ll have plenty for guests too!

I’ll be sharing the full recipe below, but before I do let me share a few more quick and easy appetizers for your holiday entertaining or family get-togethers!
