Apple Fritter Bread

A quick and easy bread filled with layers of apples and spices, topped with cinnamon sugar and a vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

For the Bread

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups apples chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Cinnamon Sugar (Topping)

  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon half and half
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a standard loaf pan with spray or butter. Set aside.

    Cream together butter and sugar in a stand mixer or large bowl. Add in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just incorporated. Fold in apples. Spread evenly into the loaf pan. Meanwhile, combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top of the bread. Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before removing from the pan. Whisk together the vanilla glaze ingredients and drizzle over the top of the bread. Serve. ***May be kept in the refrigerator for 1 week or freezer for up to 3 months.
