Happy first day of March, ya’ all!

Hubby and I woke up to 4 inches of the fluffy stuff this morning!

Not exactly ‘spring’ like weather for sure!

But the weather outside isn’t going to stop me from making the transition from winter to spring on the inside of our home!

Spring Mantel1

Ever since I gave our faux fireplace a makeover almost two years ago, it’s decor is always the first to transition from season to season.

This year’s mantel was inspired by a simple DIY project I did last weekend.

Botantical Wall Art

The old barn window has appeared on our fireplace several times throughout the years, but last weekend I decided it would make the perfect wall art ‘above’ the fireplace.  Honestly,  folks this project was so easy to put together-I didn’t even post about it!

All it took was printing off some GORGEOUS vintage flowers (my favorite spring flowers too), from The Graphic Fairy’s AMAZING botanical collection, and securing them inside each window pane! I hung the window between the two vintage plates I picked up at a local antique store-and VIOLA-the wall above the fireplace was complete!

Placing the barn window above the fireplace, provided me with tons of space on the mantel, and since I didn’t want to spend big $$ to fill that space, it was time for me to start shopping around our home!

Spring Mantel- Birdcage

My first find was this chippy birdcage that was a birthday gift given to me YEARS ago.  Truth be told I had forgotten I even had it, but I think it makes the perfect vessel for holding some faux greenery (purchased at Hobby Lobby last year with a 40% off coupon) and a cute chippy birdie (also purchased at Hobby Lobby). I picked up the white bunny at a rummage sale last year for .50-and is still one of my favorite treasures!

Spring Mantel decor

Although I’m not partial to faux flowers, these apple blossom branches I purchased last year at Michael’s with a 50 % off coupon looked so realistic, I couldn’t pass them up.  A bit more greenery and an adorable birdie, and my spring mantel will almost be complete.

Spring decor for Mantel

There was just enough space left for a wire basket, (it originally held three glass bottles), which I removed, in favor of three pears, for a little POP of color!

Simple Spring Mantel

I was so inspired by how bright and cheerful our Spring mantel turned out, that I immediately starting transitioning the rest of our dining room this past weekend. I’ll be sharing more on that soon!

Are you transitioning into Spring yet?

Blessings and hugs,

  1. That old window is pretty special to me, JoAnne, as it came from our family’s barn-and I’m still amazed at how real those branches look! Thank you so much for your sweet comment and for stopping by!

  2. Thank you so much, Sam! I’m kind of a freak when it comes to symmetry, so I thrilled that you noticed that detail! Wishing you a blessed weekend!

  3. Gorgeous C.D! I had the same idea with a rustic window I have last year. I used flowers that I had pressed from my garden. Love your botanicals! The entire mantle is just beautiful! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
