Peppermint-Vanilla Foot Soak and a Free Printable!
Did you know that after the heart, feet are the hardest working part of our bodies?
Just think about that for a minute.
Think about how many times you walk or stand and how they carry your full weight day after day, after day.
And yet those same hard-working tootsies, are also the one part of our body that we neglect the most.
I know I do.
Oh sure, I keep the nails trimmed and I moisturize them when I remember to after a shower and I even paint my toenails a pretty color from time to time.
But really pamper them?
Nope. Not for a LONG while!
And I should know better because years ago I took a class in reflexology and it taught me just how important my feet really are. And how if you don’t take care of them it can affect your entire well being and health.
So last month after the holidays when things weren’t so chaotic, I decided it was time to stop neglecting my feet and start pampering them the way they deserve.
The first step in doing so was making up a batch of my Peppermint-Vanilla Foot Soak.
All it takes are five ingredients and most of them you probably already have on hand.
The first is Epsom salt. I always keep a jar of this next to our bathtub!! There really is nothing better for sore muscles! It also helps with swelling.  I don’t know about you but especially during the summer months with all the humidity we have here in Minnesota, my feet tend to get a bit puffy after a long day of being on them.
The next ingredient is baking soda. This helps with softening your skin, as well as being a natural deodorizer.
Next, is powdered milk. I know. Strange ingredient! But it works wonders! It’s not only soothing but it also helps moisturize those tootsies too!
Do you know what is one of the most popular scents in perfume?
If you guessed vanilla then you’re right! Why? Well, research shows that most folks find the scent very appealing, calming, and yes, even sexy!
I’m crazy about the scent which is why I chose it to add to my foot soak. I use my favorite vanilla tea because it smells AMAZING and also because I LOVE how the dried tea looks when it gets mixed up with the rest of the ingredients. You could also use a few drops of vanilla essential oils. I’ve also tried vanilla extract but it does contain alcohol and I find it to have a drying effect as well as being a bit ‘sticky’.
Lastly, I add 6-8 drops of peppermint essential oil. Peppermint is amazingly rejuvenating to tired, achy feet and to your general well being too! And BONUS it smells good too! I bought this small jar at Hobby Lobby and because a little goes a LONG way it will last for quite some time!
The recipe I have makes about 2 cups, which is just perfect for the mini Hermes jars. You could also use small mason jars too!
To use this AMAZING foot soak all you have to do is add 1/2 a cup to some warm water and relax and enjoy!
Use it weekly and I promise you your feet will thank you!

Your timing is perfect – I always go through a little extra pampering in February. It’s that go between month where winter seems to drag on just teasing us with spring so I pamper myself to stay positive. I even have a neat blue mason jar to store this recipe in so guess what I’m making next week. Thank you!
