Modern Rustic Thanksgiving Tablescape
Budget-Friendly Tips to create a simple-neutral tablescape for your Thanksgiving gathering!
Hello, sweet friends!
As you know, Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday, and I can hardly wait until it gets here!
In fact, I’m so darn excited about it that I’ve already planned my menu, started my shopping list, and created a perfectly simple tablescape already!!!
I’ve also gathered together some of my best tips to make this year’s turkey day as stress-free as possible!
So let’s get started!
Create a simple but pretty centerpiece
I LOVE to set a pretty table for family and friends, and coming up with a unique but simple centerpiece is my FAVORITE part! This year’s Thanksgiving centerpiece was SUPER simple to put together and the bonus-it was inexpensive too!
To start, I filled a galvanized pitcher with dried grasses and eucalyptus that I picked up at Walmart in their craft section for $4.95. I bought several varieties so I could mix them up and used the remaining for another bouquet in my foyer. I also added in some faux olive branches and dried wheat.
I LOVE using dried florals and grasses this time of year because they are neutral and will last all winter long!
Shop outdoors and in your home for decor
This ONE simple tip has ended up saving me a LOT of money! Creating a pretty centerpiece can be as simple as filling a wooden box with pinecones from your back yard! That’s exactly what I did, along with antlers and candles! That’s it. Now that’s what I call no-fuss decor!
Neutral doesn’t have to mean white
I’m all for the elegance of a white tablecloth, but this year I wanted something a bit more laid back and fun! And what says fun and still looks pretty? Plaid of course! I had this blue/grey plaid tablecloth (similar one here)and because those are the two main colors I plan to incorporate into my Christmas decor I can keep it out or re-use it all winter long!
My place setting this year is simple too! Just white dishes atop my DIY wood grain chargers, and everyday silverware.
Add that special personal touch
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Family is everything to me and whenever I can show them how much they fill my heart, I do so. This year I created these “I’m Thankful for You”, cards to let each one sitting at the table know they are appreciated and loved. And for those not able to make it turkey day? Well, they will know how missed they are.

I also thought it would be fun to add a little nametag to each place setting too. I picked these up at our local Dollar General. Since I’ll be filling my turkey up with goodies like fresh rosemary (and I always have some leftover), I thought I’d add a sprig to the tags for a bit of color and an AMAZING scent!

Now for one last tip! And this one might be the most helpful of all and one I learned a LONG time ago!! I always set my table at least one day in advance of the big day. It means one less thing to do the day of, plus it gives me the opportunity to set out all of my serving dishes and utensils and make space for them if need be, on the table.

I really like this and absolutely love dried flowers. I don’t understand why others don’t use them as much. You’ve govt every detail for the perfect Thanksgiving table. My grandma use to set her table the night before too, she loved this activity and I remember being taught how to set a table for guests. She had such high hopes for me, LOL. Enjoy your visit with the grandson!
