Hello everyone!  I hope your week is going well!  Mine has been CRAZY busy with work, putting finishing touches on some projects and…..oh ya, I celebrated being another year older.

Today I want to share yet another one of my obsessions!  Chalkboards!!!

Seriously!  You can’t have too many chalkboards!!!

And this  chalkboard truly was the perfect solution for the large, VERY empty wall in the dining room!

The best part is- it didn’t cost anything to make!

I found this painting in the attic, when I first moved in.  I loved the chunky frame, but unfortunately, the painting was ripped in several places, so I had no use for it.

Until now!

I removed the painting and backboard, and gave the frame a ‘white washed’ treatment with some leftover paint that I had.

Once the paint dried, I sanded down the edges.  To give it a bit of an aged look-I simply brushed on some stain (Minwax- Ebony) let it sit for a bit, and wiped off the excess.

As for the backboard (sorry, I forgot to take a photo)- I simply painted it with one coat of Kilz (letting it dry overnight) and three coats of Rustoleum Chalkboard paint.

Although the words are very special to me (one of my favorite blessings)-there was nothing special about how I placed them on the chalkboard.  I simply wrote them by hand. It’s not perfect by any means-but that’s just fine with me.

Even better- I’m one step closer to finally getting the dining room done!!!!!  This weekend I will be finishing the table makeover(I can’t wait to show you what I decided to do!) and I’ll be shopping for some treasures to fill the space with-when hubby and I go flea marketing on Saturday!

I’ll be linking up at these amazing places-so stop on over and get inspired!!!!
