Caramelized Pears
A Quick and Easy One Pan dessert!
As promised in last Friday’s post, I’ll be sharing all the delicious recipes that I served at our small dinner party this past weekend!
Next week I’ll be sharing my recipe for SUPER moist and herb-infused Pork Loin, along with my Mushroom Wild Rice Pilaf!
And Today, well, what better way to start off the menu than with dessert?!
This recipe is SO easy friends, I almost feel silly even writing a post on it. But then I thought why not? Easy is good, right? And sometimes when we are trying to plan a get-together with friends and family, easy is REALLY REALLY good!
So let’s get started!
The first step in creating this delicious dish is preparing the fruit! I simply peeled, cored, and sliced these pears. (One pear per person) Then I squeezed the juice of two limes (you can also use lemon) and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg over the pears. The lime juice will prevent the pears from turning brown and the nutmeg adds AMAZING flavor!
Can I use other fruit?
Absolutely! I’ve also used peaches and different varieties of apples. Just make sure whatever fruit you use is firm.
Once your pears are ready it’s time to make the sauce. I start by putting the butter in a medium-size skillet. I turn the heat on medium to medium-low and allow the butter to slowly melt.
Then you’re going to want to turn your heat down to low and add in the brown sugar. Keep stirrings as the sugar begins to dissolve so it doesn’t stick. Let the sugar and butter simmer on low for about 3 minutes just until it starts to brown on the edges.
Now it’s time for the magic!
Add in the pears and let them simmer in that sweet sauce for about 2 minutes. Then remove the skillet from the heat and add in 1 Tablespoon of Brandy. (NOTE: You can substitute vanilla if you don’t want the alcohol.) Return the skillet to the heat once more and allow pears to simmer on low until they are tender and the sauce has reduced and thickened.
I usually serve the Caramelized Pears with fresh cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg. Vanilla or Cinnamon Ice Cream are two other YUMMY choices! And don’t forget to drizzle plenty of that delicious sweet caramelized sauce over the fruit!
You could definitely ‘class’ up this dessert a bit by serving in pretty glass dessert bowls with a sprig of mint.

But we definitely made up for it! There was plenty of laughter, and of course lots of food to eat. And the weather even held up so we were able to enjoy our Caramelized Pears outside under the stars!

Happy Wednesday, sweet friends!
Yum and yum again becauseI bet these were amazing. We went out for breakfast recently and at they served apples this way and I was in heaven. I said to Robert, “do you want to try them?” Well I was so engaged that I forgot and only left him one slice. So, I promised him I would make them for us at some point. Or we’d have to out for breakfast again. That’s becoming a theme about once a month and I’ve really been enjoying it… Thanks for the recipe!
They were indeed my friend! Apples are amazing caramelized too! As for breakfast out? Oh my! It truly is one of my favorite things to do on the weekends! Sounds like you and Robert have as much fun as Michael and I do!
This is an amazing recipe. Thank you. Perfect for a dessert. But serving caramelized pears with blue cheese won’t hurt either.
Thank you so much, Lynda! This is definitely a delish dessert! I’m not a fan of blue cheese but give me some cheddar and I’m right there with you! Thank you for stopping by!
