BLT Pasta Salad
a favorite summer sandwich in salad form served in a creamy homemade buttermilk dressing!
Hello, friends!
I do LOVE summer! But I have to say, folks, this one is sure starting off HOT and HUMID!!
And for me, that definitely means less cooking in the kitchen!
It also means we are eating lighter too!
Now around here, summer just isn’t summer without a good old-fashioned BLT sandwich!
Which as far as I’m concerned is the perfect lighter fare for lunch or dinner!
I will definitely be making those as soon as our tomatoes in the garden begin to ripen!
But for now, I’m creating all kinds of fresh and delicious salads for our summertime meals!
And this BLT Pasta Salad is one of our latest faves!
It not only is just as simple to whip up as the sandwich version, but you get all the same delicious flavors too!
So let’s start with those ingredients!

Since this is a pasta salad, we start with the pasta! I use farfalle pasta, but you could use rotini, shell, or even macaroni! Whatever your favorite is.
Then of course there are all the wonderful ingredients that your usual BLT would have. Bacon, Lettuce,&Tomatoes. Did I mention bacon? Yes, it has bacon! So obviously it’s going to be YUMMY! Am I right?!
Oh yes, and like most salads, it does have a dressing too. But not just ANY dressing. It’s a creamy, tangy buttermilk dressing that will take this salad to a whole NEW level of yummy!
But the one ingredient I think that REALLY takes this salad to the top of our salad-loving list is fresh dill from our garden! I add it to the dressing and sprinkle it over the salad right before I serve it. It’s seriously like having that BIG beautiful pickle they always serve your BLT with at a restaurant, only it’s…well it’s not. It’s dill. And I LOVE me some fresh dill!
Here’s the full recipe!

Can you make this salad ahead of time?
I added this tip to the recipe but it definitely bears repeating. This salad can be made ahead of time, but I would definitely not add in the lettuce or the bacon until right before serving. The lettuce and bacon add the perfect ‘crunch’ factor to this salad and you don’t want them to be soggy instead!
how long will the salad last in the refrigerator?
Again, once the salad has all been mixed together, it’s best to serve (and eat) it right away. But, if you’re like our household and there are only two of you, you’re probably going to have leftovers that will last up to 3 days. ***You could also add just enough lettuce for one serving and add the remainder later.
This BLT Pasta Salad is perfect all by itself for lunch or a light dinner. Or serve it as a delicious side to whatever you’re grilling.
I hope you enjoy today’s recipe BLT Pasta Salad as much as our family does!
